There have been a few improvements since our last update for Aurelia 2 alpha 8. The focus of our progress has been introducing various missing powerful features from v1, namely template compilation hooks, caching control of [if]/[else] and DI factory resolution. It’s now possible to hook into compilation with compiling, there is also a powerful @factory decorator for instantiating services. An example of registering a compiling hook globally is as follow:

For the last month, since alpha-12, the focus of the Aurelia team has been v1 feature parity besides various bugs fixing, refactoring, performance & documentation improvements. The web-component plugin has been ported to v2. And web-components (WC) (custom)elements defined via Aurelia work independently with Aurelia components (elements), this enable mix-matching Aurelia components and WC elements together, enabling even more flexible, powerful & dynamic composition. This sermon was last in the Work of the People series and covered our sending prayer from the end of the service. Liturgy is meant to prepare us for mission. Line by line "May we go from here as those sent by God" The church has a mission in the world to be salt and light Matthew 28 "Teaching them to obey all that I command you" - Jesus sent his followers into the world to heal, seek justice, share the gospel by word and deed. To serve the immigrant & poor, etc. The Great Reversal Yes we are to share the gospel but also we are made for good works. Ephesians 2 v10. The following four lines in our sending prayer are reflective of the good works we are to do. "To love our neighbors as ourselves" - Luke 10 Including those with different political / theological views Don't forget our actual physical neighbors! "To seek the peace and propserity of our city" - Jeremiah 29 v5-7 "To bear witness to the coming kingdom of God" - 2 Corinthians 5 v17-20 We are to show the world what it means to live in the coming kingdom of God. We are ambassadors of Reconciliation - exemplars to the people around us "To joyfully serve all of creation" - Colossians 1 v20 Service to creation Genesis 1 v27-28 (imago dei) Genesis 2 v15 - The Hebrew words translated "keep and work/cultivate" are translated in other places in the OT as "serve" and "protect" e.g., as the priests should do to the Holy of Holies. Romans 8 v19 "In the love of the Father, the name of the Son, and the power of the Holy Spirit, Amen." Trinitarian We are sent in the love of the Father with authority delegated from Christ and the power & guidance of the Spirit

Isaiah 35 vv 1-10 This passage prophesies Jesus' second coming and the establishment of God's Kingdom. v 10 mentions humanity but much of the passage focuses on the rest of creation. As American Christians, especially from an evangelical background, we tend not to talk about creation much. 2 reasons: theological - we have a mistaken theology that the earth is cursed and fleeting. political - Discussing creation care associates us with the "wrong" tribe But, we should discuss this as Christians. Why? Reconciliation with nature from a Biblical point of view (not theological or political). Genesis 1 v1 - Bible begins with a Creator and Creation Creation and the Creator are not the same Genesis 1 v31 - What does God say about creation? It is "very good". This is not an assessment. It is a pronouncement. We are created in God's image. We should view creation as valuable the way God does. Genesis 2 v15 - God invites humanity into the world to care for it. If we accept that creation is important to God, we should steward it wisely. To abuse creation is to devalue it, but God has pronounced it very good. Romans 8 v22 - "whole creation groaning" - we have failed in our stewardship of creation, Paul notes it is corrupted by our sin. The world is not how it is supposed to be. Note: Pacific ocean garbage island - look, even if there's debate about whether climate change is human-caused (I do not concede that there is meaningful debate about that, but suppose there is), there's no question that the garbage island is on us. Revelation 21 - God WILL redeem creation. This is what Isaiah is describing in Isaiah 35 As we anticipate Christmas, this is the gospel story we are entering into. Ideas for a green Christmas: Buy less and buy local. Shared experiences instead of things - concert tickets, etc Get outside - spend time in creation Give thanks before meals - say grace - recognize God's provision in all areas of life Practice Sabbath - especially during the busy part of the year, take time for what's not work

Isaiah 7 vv 10+ For this chapter, we should understand 8th cent BC international politics in this area. Judah & Israel had split and Assyria was threatening the region. Israel and Aram (syria) had allied to resist, but Judah was not joining the alliance. So Israel and Aram turned to attack Judah to replace Ahaz as king. In Isaiah 7:9, Isaiah tells Ahaz: If you do not stand in your faith, you will not stand. God tells Ahaz to trust him In fact, God tells Ahaz to ask for a sign (v11) (I don't know if we should consider this to be carte blanche, but it's not specified) Ahaz says, "I will not put the Lord to a test" which sounds great, but God has asked for it! Beyond this, we see that Ahaz isn't trusting God anyways - he has struck a deal with Assyria But - though Ahaz hasn't asked for a sign, Isaiah gives one anyway: The virgin wtih child Matthew 1 v22-23 claims this prophecy "Emmanuel" - a title meaning "God with us". Despite Ahaz's refusal of a sign, God was faithful.

Psalm 29 Epiphany: The time between Advent / Christmas and Lent. We mark events in the life of Jesus. Psalm 29: The Voice of the Lord - this phrase is repeated 7 times in this psalm. What is the voice of the Lord? How do we hear and recognize it? How do we discern people who claim to be hearing the voice of the Lord? This is one of the oldest psalms. Three main sections: vv 1-2 - call to worship vv 3-9: The voice of the Lord vv 10-11 - conclusion The voice of God takes a couple forms: "vox externa" - the externa, audible voice of God. Read scripture to hear from God. "vox interna" - the internal, "still small" inaudible internal voice of God. Is God speaking to me? I don't have experiences like people in Scripture? What does the voice of the Lord sound like to me? We don't live life with an earpiece through which God speaks to us. This would hamper our process of maturation and our development of a relationship with God. Practical tips If we have the wrong motives for seeking to hear from God, we probably won't Understand our relationship - God is like a parent helping to develop us God's communication to us comes in a variety of forms God's internal voice - how do we know / discern it? Community - the people around us hwo advise, teach, and speak truth to or around us. Creation - Lots of examples of this in today's psalm Culture - Novels, songs, poetry, music, art Conscience - God uses our own thought process. This one can be tough: How do we know? Check against scripture, but make sure it's in line with principles vs incidental teachings Check against the life of Jesus Check: is it saying somethihg different from "the voice of myself"? I am not pursuing a voice. I am pursuing Christ.

Psalm 40 verses 1-11 - Dr. Gerry Breshears Let's check verses 12-13 first. Note, the author is still in the "pit"! He has been throughout this psalm and we should read it with that in mind. vv 1-3 - At the beginning, the author is in a bad situation, but patiently waiting for God - with hope, even as it takes time. Author declares the truth about God even as he may not feel it vv 4-5 - Author is reminding self o fthe good things God has done, looking around at the beauty of all the things God has made. Actively seeing. vv 6-8 Verse 6: "but my ears you have opened" - this phrase breaks the poetic parallel structure. Draws our attention. This is quoted in Hebrews 10 vv 5-6, and is applied to Jesus there. "A body you prepared for me" is the Septuagint translation. "Sacrifice not required" - meaning author is not going to try to bribe God - instead he will continue waiting for God patiently. vv 9-10 - I proclaim God's goodness even in the circumstances verse 11 - again asking God to deliver, while all this is still happening. Frames of reference - three different views of evil: God ordains evil for his greater glory and our ultimate good (Calvinist) God allows us to choose evil for the sake of true loving relationship (Arminian) God is at war with evil, using Good as His primary weapon (mix)

Psalm 27 Lectionary has verses 1-9 for today. It keeps the passages short on purpose. But we'll cover the whole psalm today. Authentic prayer from a place of pain: "I'm not well and it is well" Praying the psalms is about allowing God to change us. v1 - Psalmist is proclaiming that "it is well" - head knowledge - but also a good thing to consciously remind us. vv 2-3 - acknowledgement and lament of hard situation, once again a reminder "my heart will not fear" vv 4-5 - God is our light and salvation, our stronghold. In hard circumstances, we need to position ourselves in God's presence

John 9 vv 1-12 - 4th Sunday of Lent John refers to "signs" instead of "miracles", indicating the intent behind the actions Signs are often accompanied by "I am" statements (i.e., v 5) Three relationships that Jesus is bringing light to in this story Relationships with one another v2: "Who sinned" Nobody. This is a way for people to try to exercise agency over their circumstances We don't know why the man was blind. But Jesus showed that we are to move toward him instead of trying to judge him or regard him with fear. Relationship with creation We are part of creation Jesus uses creation in this healing. See also Genesis 2 v7 Remember not to elevate the spiritual above the physical. We are both. Relationship with Jesus From conversion, we should continue to grow and know him differently today. Our lives should look different because of Jesus. These three relationships are intertwined.

Hi there, How's the weather where you are? Here in Boorloo/Perth the nights and mornings are starting to get cold, and I've been mending holes in shorts before putting them away and wool knits as I bring them out. I like to paint with natural light where possible, but I've bought myself a daylight easel lamp so I can keep making art on cloudy days and in the evenings. This year I set myself a project to submit a painting to a local community exhibition. The only criteria for this exhibition are that the artist be more than seven years old, and the painting be less than 20x20cm. This is quite small for a painting, but large compared to my Sketchbooks so it was a nice challenge to do something a bit different. A piece of art intended for hanging on a wall or on a shelf has a very different viewing experience compared to in my sketchbook. Instead of being at that intimate scale, and mostly private to just me leafing through the pages, a more "complete" piece of art on display needs to make sense at a distance, with other things and maybe other art around it. The composition needs more thought to fit nicely within the chosen frame, and framing is a whole other bag of decisions in itself. I did a few at this scale to find one that I liked enough to submit, and every single time it went through The Ugly Stage where I felt hopelessly inept and like I was attempting something way beyond my skill level. Every single time I managed to make it work, some more successfully than others. For watercolour it helps to use high quality 100% cotton watercolour paper, which I buy in large sheets and cut down to the sizes I need. This paper is more forgiving than the cheaper mixed media paper I tend to use for sketchbooks, although it takes forever to dry. Although I started sketching and painting purely for fun, it feels good to be taking it a little more seriously. Making more complete artworks is a challenge I think I was finally ready for. I have still been working in my sketchbooks too - here's another self portrait from Sketchbook 15. Other things: I completed Sketchbook 14 and Sketchbook 15 (quick ones with only a few spreads). My Books page has been updated with what I've been reading so far in 2026. This video on how to mend small holes in knitwear has helped me keep a merino sweater looking good for another winter. I got hooked on Portrait Artist of the Year Australia (on ABC iView). Such a wholesome show and incredible art. You might also be interested in what I’m up to Now.

I started this sketchbook in April 2026 and finished in August 2026. I had meant to sketch whilst on my family trip to Singapore, but found it too hard whilst travelling. These have all been painted back home based on my photos. I didn't have high hopes for this Kmart paper that I made the sketchbook from as it's cheap, thin and not made for watercolour. Hi there, I hope you're keeping warm (or cool, if you're one of the few people subscribed who don't live near me!) this season. Here we've just passed the winter solstice and the days are mostly cold and rainy. My courtyard plants are loving life though, and I'm spending as much time as possible working out there when the sun comes through and there isn't enough rain to drip through my pergola and land on my head. After working intensely on watercolour paintings and a sketchbook from photos of a trip to Singapore, this winter weather has me looking for even cosier hobbies. Every few years I decide to take up knitting or crocheting when the weather is like this - there's just something cosy about sitting on the couch under a blanket, yarn flowing through fingers. This time it's knitting I've returned to, and because it's been so long I've had to buy and learn everything from scratch again. Every time I pick up knitting again, I'm reminded of why I put it down previously - I'm slow, undisciplined, terrible at keeping count or following instructions. It's kind of freeing being really shit at something though - I have zero expectation of being able to create something usable at this point, and everything is an experiment. So far I have painstakingly made and frogged (pulled apart) two scarves, each of which I started and pulled apart multiple times in the process. I suppose you could consider these failed projects, but I chose to treat these as experiments with the purpose of learning rather than a wearable outcome, so I don't feel bad about the hours "wasted". So far I have learned continental style knitting/purling, knitting in the round, increases, decreases, casting on and off. I can rescue a dropped stitch, join a new ball of wool yarn just by rubbing the ends together, do wet blocking, and sort of read knitting patterns. I still have yet to make anything that is actually wearable, but it's been a fun journey and a nice way to keep my hands busy whilst thinking. The thinking part is making it worth it, even if I never do manage to finish a project. Other things: I'm not using AI for personal writing or art, here's why - I can't believe I need to say this, but everything in this letter and on my website is written/painted with my own human meat hands, not with AI. I recently finished playing the Lego Voyagers game with my youngest son, the last leg of a whole family effort (it's a collaborative game requiring two players). I never imagined I'd get so emotionally attached to little 1x1 Lego bricks, each with one eye and able to communicate only through singing nonsense. We had a little cry at the end. Some songs of the melancholic soundtrack have earned a place in my chill beats playlist. This well-researched video on the origins of the "lorem ipsum" filler text is entertaining with a satisfying end. I'm in desperate need of good podcasts or audio books to listen to whilst knitting, let me know if you have any good ones to recommend! Something not too serious and not about tech. Currently* on the easel - art homework I’m scrambling to do at the last minute. I’ve just realised I have the face much too wide and need to redo the eye and hand I’ve spent ages on * easel can't permanently live on the kitchen counter so needs to be brought out when I want to work on this, which might also be why I kept putting it off You might also be interested in what I’m up to Now.

Hi there, Another letter so soon! Maybe this will become a monthly thing? We shall see. Just a quick on to say that I have a painting in an exhibition for the first time! The Piccolo community exhibition is running from 29 July to 15 August at Inglewood Arts Hub, where I will also doing some volunteer work on the website and hanging out in the gallery. Although my painting is small (all of the 163 artworks in this exhibition are under 20x20cm), it's still a big step up from working in my tiny sketchbooks and feels like a big step up as an artist. I'll be on gallery attendant duty the mornings of Fridays 7 and 14 August if you want to drop by when I'm there. All the artworks are displayed anonymously until sold, but since mine was sold on the opening day (!!!) I can share it with you here. Watercolour quinces *20x20cm Watercolour on Laquarelle paper* Now that I've had a taste of this and some more conversations with exhibiting artists, I want to do more! I haven't figured out where this will go yet, but that's never really stopped me. Sort of relatedly, I've been having such great conversations and shared experiences with other creative people in my life recently - away from any screens. It feels to me like this is very necessary at this point in time, where digital and frictionless experiences seem to dominate, to do something real and tactile and with other people. Again I haven't figured out where to go with this - back to running art workshops maybe? Making a zine? Maybe just a community crafternoon? Let me know if any of this is resonating! Other things I knitted most of a top and then realised that because I improved in the process, the top (where I started) is quite visibly worse than the bottom. I'm pulling it apart to try again. Still yet to knit anything wearable, but still enjoying the process. I made some changes to the website, most of which will be invisible to visitors except that navigating between posts is a little easier. I want to write more about Obsidian even though I assume it's quite niche - let me know if that's how you found me and there's something you want to read about. I did end up erasing half of that Charcoal portrait with hands I sent in the last letter and it's much better for it. Gotta love a medium that allows a do-over (unlike watercolour). Teresa P.S.
