前言 # 什么是海岛诺连语？ # 海岛诺连语（以下简称海诺语）是通行于以梵地区的一门语言，目前作为各地沟通的通用语（Lingua Franca）被广泛使用。
一般认为，海诺语是古代诺连语的后代。第一世代，古代诺连人从西方的瑟林地区逐渐迁徙至以梵地区，并与当地原住民以梵人融合，形成了所谓的海岛诺连民族。海岛诺连并不是指一个单一的民族，而是指由很多不同的民族共同形成的一个民族集团。其下可分为月澄人（ibi Hastin）、雨兰人（ibi Emalu）、风崖人（ibi Cotoni）、阿波提人（ibi Eboti）、小湖原人（ibi Lous）和天深人（ibi Bidhech）等。
本书以第三世代通用语为基准编写，列出的多数条目和规则符合第三世代标准。所谓的第三世代标准，主要以当代海诺文化中心的月澄-雨兰等地方言为基础发展而来，但本书只不过是一种普遍规律的总结，并不代表实际上的海诺语就一定如此。另外本书中还会穿插讨论其他海诺语方言，以及口语和书面语的区别等。
海诺人怎么打招呼？ # 两个海诺人相遇了，他们会如何打招呼呢？
一般地，如果他们互相不认识，他们会说：

“这是梦吗。” 更进一步，他们可能会说：
síamen arva civi·udo.
“天体闪耀在我们相遇之处。” 或者更简单地：
ló·fíchse.
“请允许我享受辉煌。” 接着，他们会询问对方的名字：

“你是怎样被赋名的？”

“你如何被称呼？”

“你的名字是什么？”
这时，应该回答：
teb·somad Steorran.
“我叫 Steorran。”

另一个人则回答：

“而我叫 Erí。” 还有一种更为古雅的说法：
ru·gurid Steorran.
“我名为 Steorran。” 若是熟人，则可能只会叫一声 ai! 或者 io! ，或者直呼对方的名字，比如 Steorran! ，又或者是 antó!
